PIGMENTATION

The colour of human skin is determined by the amount of melanin it contains, while melanin itself is produced by special cells called melanocytes. An increase in melanin production results in higher pigment deposit in the skin. Among the factors enhancing pigmentation are uv radiation, hormonal changes during or after pregnancy, medication, deficit of certain vitamins.
